Student oral presentation and poster competition
Graduate and undergraduate students may enter their work in the student competition on site. (More information will be shortly available on line).
To qualify for participation in the competition, the student competitor:
- must be the first author, but need not be the sole author.
- must be a student at the time of the conference.
- should be present at the conference and present the paper or poster.
Student presenters can register for the competition on-site, but please bring valid proof by way of a letter from your university or research supervisor that you are as yet a student during the conference. Competitors should indicate whether they are graduate or undergraduate students.
Each podium presentation and poster by students who enter the competition will be judged with regard to the quality of the study being reported, practical relevance for the conservation of humid tropics in the future and the quality of the presentation. The following attributes will be rated:
- Study design and methods
- Originality of the work pertaining to tracking change or meeting challenges and opportunities in the three main themes.
- Significance of the work in alleviating biodiversity loss, problems of climate change and promoting sustainable use and adaptation in the humid tropics.
- Skillful organization of the presentation.
- Success of delivery and effective presentation style.
- Effectiveness of visual aids.
